Everyone Wants To Save Energy In Their Home

A lot of people bring up energy saving. With following and learning some tips, you can save energy and money. The goal is always to keep your monthly household budget low. Below we have compiled 5 key tips that will help you save energy in your home.

1) Close Doors and curtains

Cooling the whole house can be expensive. Where possible, shut doors to areas you are not using and only cool the rooms you spend the most time in. Make sure your curtains or blinds seal your windows properly and keep your curtains closed during the day when there is a heat-wave. Seal around doors and windows to stop cool air leaking out. Use external shading, such as external blinds or canvas awnings, to keep the sun off the window as much as possible.

2) Appliances (Refrigerator)

Your fridge is always running and making it one of your most expensive appliances. Make sure the door seal is tight so cold air can’t escape. An ideal fridge temperature is 4 or 5 degrees and an ideal freezer temperature is minus 15 to minus 18 degrees Celsius. Sealing them both, while keeping proper temperatures is the key!

3) Turn off heaters and coolers

When they aren’t necessary, make sure you keep temperature controls. Turn off when you leave the room, or go to bed. With some ducted heating systems, you can turn off the heating in the rooms that are unoccupied. Make sure all your heating or cooling is turned off when you leave the house.

4) Save in the Kitchen

Thaw frozen food in your fridge to reduce cooking time. When you are cooking, use the microwave when you can – it uses much less energy than an electric oven. If you use the stove, keep lids on your pots to reduce cooking time. Use the economy cycle on your dishwasher and only run it when it’s full.

5) Lightbulbs

Nowadays with proper technology and research, you can save big. Energy saving bulbs, smart bulbs not only save you money with energy but can last longer. You can also keep in mind to shut off lights when you leave your home. Whether you are in a room or not, remember to shut the lights off.

All these tips can help you save energy and money. Keep a list of making some of these changes and compare to prior usage and bills. Seeing a lower monthly bill while saving energy will make anyone happy!
